Since You’ve Been Gone

I caught a bad cold/flu thing (again!), and I’m trying to fight it off. It happened just after I finished King Babya few little watercolors, and those two big gouaches. At least I got some shit done first.

The biggest bummer of all was that I had to miss X last night. They played at Pappy & Harriet’s. I was way too sick to go, especially because they played outside. A perfect night for it, but I still would not have been able to stand through it. Hopefully, they will come back through town someday soon. I haven’t seen them play in over 30 years! I am OLD!

I’m keeping this short because I want to go back to bed very soon. Here are the new large gouaches

Mending Station, 2023. Gouache on Rives BFK, 30 x 22 inches:

Elephant Blouse, 2023. Gouache on Rives BFK, 22 x 30 inches:

And three watercolors I haven’t shown yet:

Cake Stand, 2023. Watercolor and pencil on paper, 7 x 5 inches:

Desirable Watercolor Painting, 2023. Watercolor on Arches, 10 x 7 inches:

Stupid Sharp Knives, 2023. Watercolor and gouache on Fabriano paper, 9 x 12 inches:

And above is a link to King Baby.

Any day, I’ll get word on Skowhegan. However, the chances of getting in are 3.5% which is fucking hella low. I do not expect to get in. Not at all, but a little part of me sure hopes to because I want it so, so bad. I will get word on VCCA this month as well, which has a much higher percentage rate, but it’s not an easy residency to get into either. I can only keep trying.

Hope you get into Skowhegan. Have not been but know someone who has. It’s a beautiful place…

Thank you. Me too, but let’s not hold our breath. It really is a 3% acceptance rate. Also, most people that get in are from ivy league schools. I appreciate you rooting for me. I need it!
