As I mentioned in an earlier blog post, I’d ordered an EZRest mahl stick from Amazon/Jerry’s Artorama. Well, it arrived the other day, and while it’s a good idea and invention, it wasn’t for me. The wood block on the clamp is pretty big, and it wasn’t easy to attach it anywhere on my easel. When we got it on there temporarily, the stick/arm kinda wiggles and has enough give to touch the painting, defeating the whole purpose of resting your hand on it. I’m returning it.

West Valley Fiction V.10 (Almost Done)
Calling the neurosurgeon’s office the other day paid off, as they are scheduling me a tad earlier than August 5th. I’ll be going on the morning of July 28th instead. And, I’ll be seeing the surgeon instead of a PA. I feel a lot better about that.

Got my referral to the neurosurgeon/neurointervention-thing. I have a referral for both doctors, but one of them has a dual specialty, so I’d rather go with him. He’s in Rancho Mirage, which is about an hour away. The other guy is in Riverside (about an hour away in the other direction). I don’t know if it matters which direction I go, but I’d rather hit two birds with one stone.

I’ve worked another six+ hours on this piece, and still not much progress. It’s hard to believe I’ve put that many hours into it, and it’s still so far from done.

I tried not to, but I worked on that never-ending painting again yesterday. At least it wasn’t as frustrating as the last time I worked on it because it was a bit drier this time. Still, I didn’t get much done during the three hours I messed with it. I only got sore hips from standing there.
