So far this month, my head has been pretty deep into school. Lots of reading, lots of writing. It’s okay, though; this is one of the harder classes I’ll have to do…I think.

Lots-o-words About the “Relative Strangers” Show
It’s been a little bit, mostly because I was crazy busy in the two weeks leading up to the opening. I loaded up my car with more than 25 paintings and drove out to LA last Tuesday. I dropped off ten of those pieces at the scanning place and continued on to the gallery in Santa Monica with the rest.

Last week, I finally placed an order with a woodcutting company. I was ordering about 30 pieces of different shapes and sizes, but then I put the brakes on. Instead, I ordered two of the largest sizes as a test. I feel like I need to see how they’ll look and feel before making so many more, ya know?

Photographer and videographer Eric Minh Swenson was here on Monday, shooting me working in my studio. I even made some good progress on my last pieces during the shoot. I thought I was going to have to fake it (pretend to paint), but I really was painting. I did this while talking to him about the scenes in the work, since they all originate from photos.
