This morning, I found out that I got a review in ArtNowLA written by Zara Kand. Does it count if we’re friends? Maybe? Zara writes for several art magazines, but she is also a great painter and practically my neighbor. She lives about a mile away, and what’s totally crazy is that we have the same landlords!

Mother
Well, I am not a “Mother’s Day” fan because I was beyond not fond of it growing up. But, other than the traumatic memories of it, I’m safe. My mom passed quite a while ago, and later in her life, she finally got on an SSRI that magically made her quit attempting suicide, and/or threatening it. Before that, she usually chose to do such things on Mother’s Day, my birthday, or hers.

I finally got a proof of my new little book of drawings in the mail. Everything looked decent, but I needed to make a few edits, specifically the centerfold pages. It’s one single drawing across two pages that weren’t lining up correctly. I figured I musta did something wrong there, so I started from the beginning and made them line up. I just won’t know if it worked until I get another proof.

Since 2025 is almost over, I’ve been swimming in a sea of administrative and logistical tasks. I actually find this stuff enjoyable, mostly because I’m a bit organizational crazy. Over the last couple of days, I’ve been trying to take a detailed inventory. It’s more than just how many paintings or Artist’s books I have on hand. It’s an inventory of the many facets of my practice. It’s just time-consuming to gather up all the numbers for the whole year, especially because I haven’t done an inventory like this in many years, if at all, really.
